How do you protect my privacy?

You are protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. You are protected by the Board of Psychology that overseas Dr. Prause’s licensure. You are protected by compliant communication by our provider Simple Practice. Dr. Prause is a member of the Association for Psychological Science, which also has ethical guidelines for members. Dr. Prause also conducts research, which is overseen by her affiliations with national universities. You will be explicitly consented before being enrolled in any experiment.

The waiting room is mixed use. This means that no one will know you are waiting to see our office just because you are in the waiting room. The therapy room is private and uses sound-dampening to protect our communications. If you require additional privacy considerations, such as due to publicity concerns, please request these in a free phone consultation before scheduling your appointment.

There are limits to those protections, which Dr. Prause will review with you prior to starting treatment. These include, for example, threats of imminent harm to yourself or others.
